Maynooth Cruise
This account of the day was provided by Dan Trace. Some editing/enhancements were edited in. Thanks, Dan...
The day was warm and sunny in spots. We started out with 7 cars and finished with 6. Our Prez, Chief Cook and Bottle Washer ran into trouble with his amazing 1966 red roadster and was forced to bail out at Carnarvon, before reaching Maynooth.
A question was asked before leaving the beach. Where are we stopping for a break? I must admit I hadn’t given it any thought. Generally, I drive nonstop to my destination. The poor members were floating by the time I stopped in Minden.
Haliburton was beautiful and Gull Lake was fun to drive around.
Lunch was enjoyed @ the Southern Algonquin restaurant. I must of stunk, because I had to sit by myself.
The cruise from Wilberforce to Maynooth was on a wild and winding road with only ONE INCIDENT. We were averaging 90 -95 km/h and almost to Maynooth then what appeared in our lane, but Timmy the turtle.
I shouted “Duck Timmy”. He did and for the next 5 cars he was SAFE, but the 6th car = Oops! Thump---Thump.
Nasty C7 called Vindicator.
Maynooth was exciting for fudge and T-shirts. “Things appear larger under water” I.S. Lol.
We did the "wave" to each other in Bancroft, by accident of course and then headed for ice cream at the famous Kawartha’s Ice Cream parlor. Watch dog Butch guarded our cars while we were in the lineup. No drippy ice cream on his white Vette. No sir.
I had a lot of fun, especially doing 110 on the way home and everyone kept up!
Cheers Everyone,
Dan
