Seventeen Vettes from Wasaga Beach Corvette Club and Pine Ridge Corvette Club gathered at the ByGone Days Museum in Collingwood. The PRCC run from Pickering to Collingwood was 2 1/2 hours of the finest, longest, most scenic, Corvette style, back road route Ken W and Google maps could imagine. And nicely capped off by a high-speed drive-by past the Museum.
They got the checkered flag!
There was a much needed coffee/donuts break, then the Corvette group was treated to a clubhouse tour and train operations by members of the Nottawasaga Model Railway club. No model trains were harmed in the making of this event. Afterwards everyone spread out into the ByGone Days Museum to visit the many historical buildings and antique farm machinery on the acres of an old farmstead.
The group together headed to Pizza Dee's in Wasaga where reservations had been made. Lunch was both predictably and suitably a noisy, riotous Corvette style affair. And surprisingly Pizza Dee's suggested that they would like to do this again next year. Huh? And bring the talking Parrot Pirate Pete received for his Birthday. They took a LOT of pictures for their Facebook page.
Aaarrrr thar matey's we arrr' now off to the next port for gas.
Pirate Pete led the group on a short, chaotic, but fun drive straight through the centre of town and the 16,000+ motorcycles parked there. We paused briefly for fuel on the East end of town to breathe and re-group. Our escape from the gas station was made possible by a Vette so nimble and quick jumping into the road to halt traffic. Nice one there Eugene, nice one.
The cruise continued in a short circle route on H17N from Coldwater. The Highways guys have installed a Vette swallowing level RR crossing north of town. Watch out for that one! Now north past Severn Falls to the Big Chute Marine Railway. Here we watched boats riding trains. However our Vettes won't float and there were no volunteers. After an hour we moved on towards Port Severn with dinner at The Grill. Here the group broke up into those for the Sweets or those for the Meats. A very short walk took us to Icebreaker serving Kawartha Lakes ice cream. They say that boat don't float but sure did a tilt when we gathered onto one side.
Now with the cruise formerly ended, time to say our goodbyes. Thanks were offered to Mother Nature for a wonderful day and everyone split up in all directions home. Our thanks to the NMR club for their hospitality and patience. Anyone want a Parrot?
