WBCC Gives Back to the Community...
For 2018, the Wasaga Beach Corvette Club elected to donate proceeds from recent car shows, (i.e. Spring Fling at Canadian Tire - Wasaga Beach) to two new charities. A departure from charities traditionally supported in the past.
To change things up, the club has donated $1000.00 to Hospice Georgian Triangle, namely Campbell House, a palliative care facility in Collingwood Ontario. Hospice Georgian Triangle, a registered charity, provides trained volunteer and professional care and support to individuals living with life-threatening illness or in their last stages of living, to their families and to the bereaved. Campbell House opened in 2014 with six suites for patients but also boasts a general living room style gathering place for families visiting loved ones in Campbell House’s care. There is a kitchen where family can enjoy a meal. Campbell House is truly a ‘soft place to land’ during the trying times of caring for those requiring palliative assistance. Campbell House is dependent upon donations to survive. Monies from the Ontario Government purse fund only about half of what is required to maintain this amazing care facility.
That is why the Wasaga Beach Corvette Club wanted to help out.

The Wasaga Beach Corvette Club was proud and delighted to provide a donation of $1000.00 to My Friend’s House – a safe haven for abused women and children. My Friend's House is a non-profit agency offering support for abused women and children living in the Georgian Triangle of Ontario. Since opening their doors in 1991, My Friend's House has helped thousands of women get the effective safety and supports they need to rebuild their lives.
They serve an average of 600 women and their children each year – 200 through their Shelter Program and the balance through Outreach, Transition and Children's Programs.
The free and confidential services are available to all women and their children across the Georgian Triangle – from Wasaga Beach and Collingwood to Creemore and Meaford and all parts in between.
Their mission is to reduce the occurrence of domestic violence by changing societal values and norms that perpetuate or support the abuse of women, and by contributing to the safety of women and their children in the Georgian Triangle through: the provision of a safe, physical and emotional environment through short-term housing; delivery of counseling, advocacy, and crisis intervention services and also community education and awareness-raising initiatives. Special thanks to Imelda for accepting our donation.
