Eighteen Cruisers awoke to a beautiful sunny Wasaga Beach morning. Nine shiny Corvettes rumbled out of town and headed up over the escarpment to Singhampton. The sun was quickly replaced by heavy cloud and mist on the outskirts of Flesherton. By the time we got to Durham, the mist called for windshield wipers. We had no choice but to pull over and "Pop our Tops". Once on the road again, it was just a short distance to Hanover for a welcomed "Pit Stop" and to find the sun gracing our presence once again. So, "Tops Down" and on we rumbled to towards Point Clark.
Point Clark
On reaching Lake Huron, a symphony awaited us. The rolling thunder of the waves slapping the shores of Point Clark beneath the warm rays of sunshine. It was absolutely beautiful! The rest of the day was much the same.

The Point Clark Lighthouse was built in 1857. It is 110 feet (34 m) tall and made of limestone. The limestone was milled up the coast at Inverhuron, ON and moved by barge. The lighthouse has nine sets of stairs for a total of 114 steps. Its 12 sided lantern was first lit on April 1st, 1859.
Kincardine
Next stop was a visit to Kincardine for a tour of the Lighthouse and Museum. An added attraction were the two historic tall ships "Playfair" and "Pathfinder" docked in the harbor.

The Kincardine Lighthouse houses a museum which takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to explore. The Lighthouse was built on the banks of the Penetangore River in 1881 and stands 79 feet (24 m) above the Light Keeper’s home. It is an octagonal wooden structure and the only downtown wooden tower on the Bruce Coast. It is built on a stone foundation. Above the rear entrance door the year “1880” is inscribed in the cornerstone. In the day, the Lighthouse Keeper had to hoist barrels of kerosene up the stairs to keep the iron lantern going. In 1922 the kerosene light was converted to electricity, with a rotating 500 watt bulb.
Southampton
Hunger was setting in as we arrived at the Walker House in Southampton. Lunch was scrumptious! As we sat on the patio, the rays of sunshine filled the air to greet the great company and laughter we all shared in. A wonderful day and wonderful memories.
The Walker House was built in 1852 as the Royal Hotel and one of the first structures built in Southampton. In 1867 it became the Masonic Arms and later in 1904, the Central Hotel. In 1915, it took the name of its new owners, Robert and Helen Walker. The hotel transitioned into a restaurant in 1936 when it became licensed to sell alcohol. A bar was built and split in half for a separate men’s and women’s area.
